About the Job

This senior level position serves Information Systems by providing architecture, administration and troubleshooting of network hardware, including incident analysis and resolution. This role will also provide server architecture, administration and troubleshooting. This role is both technical and managerial with significant emphasis on technical acumen.

The qualified candidate must have advanced knowledge of TCP/IP within an IPv4 medium to large enterprise network context. In-depth design, architecture, and configuration skills of the Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Nexus platforms are required. Familiarity with OSPF, MP-BGP, MPLS VPN, label distribution protocols, label switching, and VRF is required. Experience in design, architecture, and configuration of Aruba Networks wireless controller (or equivalent Cisco Wireless Services module experience) is highly desirable. Familiarity with industry standard firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, proxy, and radius technologies is highly desirable

REPORTING - This position reports to Director of Infrastructure. This resource will also work closely with other business units as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Achieves IT operations operational objectives by maintaining current network systems; evaluating, recommending, testing and installing new technology; contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Implements corporate standards and policies by; following change management and other policies; in conjunction with established policies, prioritizing modifications to system; resolving issues and incidents as directed; developing and implementing documentation requirements for problem resolution.
  • Improves quality results by evaluating and upgrading processes; directing changes.
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends in new technologies for systems as assigned.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Additionally support IT operational needs by also providing server administration and providing assistance on desktop support issues as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Formal Education & Certification

  • University degree in the field of computer science or business administration or equivalent experience required
  • Master’s degree in one these fields preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Wired IEEE networking standards: 802.3/Ethernet, 802.1x/Authentication, 802.1d/w spanning-tree, rapid spanning-tree (RSTP), per-vlan rapid spanning-tree (PVST+), 802.1q trunking
  • Wireless IEEE networking standards: 802.11a/b/g/n, EAP/EAPOL/802.1x, 802.11h. Radio Frequency knowledge in the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz spectrum
  • Solid understanding of network systems architecture, OSI model, QoS, and TCP/IP and IP based protocols, including IDS/IPS, firewall, OSPF, MP-BGP, MPLS, VPN, VRF
  • SNMP and its application in network monitoring systems
  • Computer systems architecture, operating systems, and network hardware/software Good network workstation/server troubleshooting skills
  • Good understanding of Linux/UNIX and Windows 7/Windows 2010 based systems
  • Basic understanding of IPv6 and how it differs from IPv4
  • Experience with traffic shaping devices and bandwidth management
  • Packet capture and analysis with Wireshark, TCPdump, or similar tools
  • Log analysis 7-10 years’ experience in network administration and other IT operations skills.
  • Experience required with Cisco switches, Wireless LAN controllers and Unified Communication (Voice) Checkpoint
  • Experience required with Palo Also firewalls
  • Experience required with Microsoft operating systems and support
  • Experience with HP Servers and Blade systems highly desired
  • Experience with Bluecoat and Ironport devices highly desired
  • SAP experience a major plus
  • Considerable knowledge of business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations.
  • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems
  • Substantial understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities.
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development.
