ABOUT THE JOB

The Senior Researcher, Function Development is responsible for creating new, high margin disruptive product technologies that delight consumers in the fields of consumer and professional skin-care.

REPORTING

Reports to the VP of Advanced Research and also supplies technical expertise and services to Operations and Appliance Product Development as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate and develop new technologies that positively affect the fundamental structure and function of the human integument.
  • Propose, evaluate and develop principles and technologies that meet strategic new product objectives and business-fit needs.
  • Assist VP, Advanced Research to manage technology pipeline and stakeholders.
  • Actively partner with Marketing and outside consultants to conduct and manage ideation and selection activities at the concept level and addressing likelihood of technical success and consumer acceptance.
  • Plan, organize, lead, and control function/application development programs.
  • Own the creation of project charters, plans and schedules, staff projects, manage risk, contribute to IP strategy and execution, manage project costs.
  • Achieve project goals, including product outcome, schedule, and budgetary performance.
  • Establish relationships with and manage internal and external partners as needed.
  • Communicate development project status to management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience in applied research, product development, hands-on prototype development and testing, patent development and strategy, and an advanced degree in at least one major discipline key to PBL success (e.g. electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, bioengineering).
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with an open mind to learn and explore new areas and opportunities in skin care, skin-related medical devices and associated markets.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Clinical Science, Appliance Product Development, Manufacturing, and Marketing departments; with external Technology Acquisition specialists and other consultants.
  • Ability to create and lead diverse and creative teams to major accomplishments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional CAD/CAE skills. Extensive SolidWorks experience or equivalent.
