Tastemakers, skin care and beauty professionals alike know the dramatic difference between Clarisonic and manual cleansing. To prove the disparity, researchers at Pacific Bioscience Laboratories conducted several tests to further quantify and qualify the divide between the two, while also underscoring the efficacy of the dual-brush sonic oscillation. At the 66th American Academy of Dermatology Annual Meeting in 2008, the researchers unveiled a fresh round of posters revealing a scientific truth lurking behind the Clarisonic Skin Care System: it works wonders.

“Our bodies are attacked daily with impurities,” confirms Dr. Robb Akridge, the lead scientist behind the studies. “The Clarisonic Skin Care System cleanses deeply, gently clearing pores, and prepares the skin for absorption of skin care products. Our studies, shown in these posters, demonstrate the positive Clarisonic effect on various skin types.”

The studies, all of which were reviewed and accepted for public display by theAAD beforehand, showed that the sonic brush system goes above and beyond manual cleansing in a host of ways, including improved absorption of Vitamin C, and reduced appearance in signs of photoaging. The posters — their titles themselves a testament to the Clarisonic Skin Care System efficacy — are titled “Assessment of a sonic skin care brush used as part of a skin care regime for rosacea”; “Evaluation of a sonic skin care brush on the reduction of shaving-induced irritation”; “Clinical evaluation of the appearance of photoaging with combined use of a sonic device and topical therapies”.

Key findings revealed through image analysis and skin measurements: 1) the Clarisonic Skin Care System is a safe, gentle, and effective way to cleanse rosacea-prone skin; 2) the majority (81%) of men reported a closer shave, increased comfort, and improved ease of shaving within two weeks of use of Clarisonic; 3) up to 61% more topically applied Vitamin C was measured in the epidermis following Clarisonic cleansing compared to manual cleansing; 4) after eight weeks of topical cosmetic products for anti-aging, women who cleansed half their face with the Clarisonic and the other half manually reported significantly greater improvement on the Clarisonic side for many measures including skin softness, skin firmness, and reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
