Being on vacation is all about ditching your regular routine…but that doesn’t mean you should skip out on taking care of your skin. If you want your complexion to look gorgeous in all those sightseeing selfies you’re going to take, here are six travel skincare tips to follow. Learn how to pack skincare for travel and enjoy your next trip!
Pack Travel-Size Products
The first step in your on-the-go skincare routine should be rounding up the skincare products you need. But you don’t want your entire suitcase to be filled with products, do you? After all, you still need to save room for clothes and shoes! So, stock up on travel sizes of your favorite cleanser and moisturizer. You can even buy empty travel size bottles and pour your favorite skincare products into them.
Keep Your Skin Moisturized
In-flight skincare is essential. If you’re flying somewhere, keep in mind that the air in a plane can be really drying—so it’s important to hydrate your skin. Refresh your skin mid-flight with a facial mist, and once you’ve landed apply a moisturizer to alleviate post-flight dryness. And remember to drink plenty of water while you’re up in the air, too. You can even use a moisturizing face mask once you check into your hotel for added hydration.
Be Diligent with Sun Protection
Headed to the beach? Make sure you bring a broad-spectrum sunscreen with you. Apply a shot glass worth of sunscreen from head to toe as directed, and remember to take additional sun protection measures as well. Limit your amount of time in the sun during peak hours (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), sit under an umbrella for shade, and wear sunglasses and a hat for further protection.
Don’t Forget About Cleansing
Before heading out for a day full of activities, take the time to cleanse your skin and prep it for the day ahead. You should do the same when you get back to your hotel at night to get rid of all the dirt and grime that has built up on the surface of your skin throughout the day. Use your travel size cleanser and a Clarisonic facial cleansing brush to give your skin a deep clean.
Go Light on Makeup
Vacation is supposed to be relaxing—so give your skin a break by going makeup-free, or by paring down your makeup routine. A touch of tinted moisturizer or BB cream, a coat of mascara, and a swipe of lip gloss is all you need to look put together in minimal time.
Blot Away Excess Oil
One of the easiest products to fit in your bag when traveling is a pack of oil blotting sheets. You can touch up your face and absorb excess oil on the go, so stash a pack in your tote for easy access.
